Cat Eagan named Director of Strategy for McKinney in Durham
As reported in Campaign, Cat Eagan is the new director of strategy for McKinney’s Durham office. In this newly created position, Eagan will report to Chief Strategy Officer Walt Barron, who will oversee the agency’s strategic offering across all three offices as McKinney’s growth and momentum continues.
Eagan joins McKinney from 72andSunny, where she was a group strategy director focusing on new business and brands like Tillamook, Match.com, Starbucks, and Google Translate in addition to the upcoming 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Previously, she was brand strategy director at Wieden + Kennedy, working on Dodge, Chrysler, Kraft, and TurboTax, and she also held strategy positions at Mother and Venables Bell & Partners.
“Strategists shine a light on different perspectives and connections,” said Eagan. “Then, we bring them to life through storytelling that engenders empathy and deeper understanding. It’s my favorite part of the job. I’m excited to join McKinney and build on its legacy of dreaming up big ideas and weaving stories from simple human insights.”
Eagan’s role in Durham will be multifaceted, overseeing strategy for current clients and agency new business, while working with the strategic leads in New York and Los Angeles to shape McKinney’s overall strategic offering.
“Cat has great experience at agencies we admire, the right balance of digital and brand strategy, and a down-to-earth wisdom that clients and peers alike crave,” said Barron. “But I think her greatest gift is her ability to empathize and quickly connect with anybody, no matter the circumstance. She joined us two weeks into this work-from-home world, and it already feels like she’s been part of the McKinney family for years.”
