McKinney’s Mtern program hits 20-year mark, welcomes 17 interns
This summer, the McKinney Mtern program celebrates 20 years by welcoming our latest group of Mterns. This year’s class, chosen from over 800 applicants, comprises 17 Mterns, with two working out of McKinney LA, two in our New York office, and 13 at our Durham headquarters.
Of course, location is relative considering that our Mterns — like so many of us — will be “working together” remotely this summer, providing yet another learning process for all of us to work through during COVID-19. But McKinney felt it more important than ever to continue the program this summer.
“I know how important an internship is to a young professional’s future, particularly one at McKinney,” said CEO Joe Maglio. “Under 25 employment right now is devastating. We’re proud that we have managed our business so that we could keep the tradition of hiring the best and brightest young people for this venerable program.”
While operations and methodology are markedly different, much constancy remains. In New York, we’re once again welcoming a 4A’s MAIP intern — our 12th — and we will also be announcing another Joni Madison Diversity Scholar later this summer. Established in 2016 to honor former McKinney COO Joni Madison, the scholarship is designed to help students from underrepresented minority groups gain the opportunity to learn from working as interns at the agency.
