McKinney LA creates virtual pilgrimage for Picturehouse release, “Fatima”
As part of the relaunch of the film marketing and distribution company, Picturehouse, and to promote their first film, “Fatima,” we created a virtual pilgrimage on Facebook Premiere. During its live broadcast, the virtual pilgrimage attracted over 2,000 viewers, and in one day it received more than 100,000 views and over 800 comments.
“A pilgrimage to Fátima is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many,” said McKinney LA GCD Andy Pearson. “But obviously no one is able to go this year, so it provided us with a really special opportunity to bring the entire Catholic world together for a short time to celebrate. It was really powerful to see people praying via Facebook comments during the broadcast. Rarely in this line of work do you get to make something so deeply meaningful for people.”
The film tells the story of a 10-year old shepherd and her two young cousins in Fátima, Portugal, who reported seeing visions of the Virgin Mary. Scheduled for an August 14 theatrical release, “Fatima” stars Harvey Keitel and Sônia Braga.
