Panel encourages audience to leverage passion and connections

Recently, McKinney partnered with Duke Business-Oriented Women and the Duke Marketing Club for a panel discussion and networking event hosted here at the agency. McKinney Durham’s managing director Gretchen Walsh moderated the panel, which was followed by a keynote address delivered by Dee McDougal, senior vice president for diversity + inclusion at Pacific Western Bank.

McDougal, a self-described “change-maker,” encouraged her audience to seek out an “occu-passion” (an occupation they’re passionate about) along with other observations and advice. “Who you are doesn’t dictate where you go,” said McDougal. “Don’t let being a woman or a person of color put limits on your success.”

McKinneyites on the event’s panel included market research analyst Brianna Calderon-Roman, account director Lindsley Laham, and executive director of media Swap Patel. They provided commentary and insight along with Rachel Classi of Teamworks, Joe Daly of Urban Ministries of Durham, and Alison Coppock of Lenovo.
