Three Questions for MAIP Intern Grace Heneghan
McKinney continued its longstanding participation with the 4A’s Multicultural Advertising Internship Program (MAIP) this year by welcoming its 11th MAIP intern, Grace Heneghan. A recent graduate of Ithaca College, Heneghan works as an intern in our strategy department. In this Q&A, Grace talks about her decision to apply to MAIP and provides advice for future MAIP interns.
Why did you decide to apply to MAIP?
I decided to do MAIP because it was recommended to me by my friends and others in my network. I first heard of MAIP at Out for Undergrad, a marketing conference for those who identify as LGBTQ+. It sounded like an amazing way to experience agency culture and learn about advertising firsthand.
What’s been the highlight of your time at McKinney?
I think the highlight of my time here at McKinney has been the people. Everyone is very welcoming, and it’s been fun learning from some of the most talented individuals in advertising.
What advice would you give future MAIP interns?
Have a plan on how you want this summer to turn out, be proactive about setting goals, and take time to breathe.
MAIP interns at the agency participate in the McKinney Mternship program, which is structured for full-time graduate or undergraduate students, or a recent grad who is pursuing a career in advertising or marketing communications. Now in its 14th year, the program offers students career assistance, training, development, hands-on work experience, and a paycheck.
