Three was the magic number for McKinney and its clients at the 2018 North American Effie Awards Gala in New York. The agency won three Bronze Effies across three different categories for clients, CarMax, Equality NC, and Samsung. The effort placed McKinney ninth of 309 winners for total number of Effies won over the 16 years that the agency has entered this competition.

McKinney’s “CarMax 101” work was awarded in the Retail category, Samsung’s “Right at Home” campaign was recognized in the Home Furnishings & Appliances category (making this campaign a two-time winner and one-time finalist), and Equality NC’s “Stop HB2” effort took home the Effie in the Government, Institutional & Recruitment category. McKinney had two additional Effie finalists, for “Stop HB2” in the Engaged Community category and for Ad Council & Dollar General Literacy Foundation’s “No One Gets a Diploma Alone” in the Government, Institutional & Recruitment category.
