On Oct. 14, 2015, New York Managing Director Kerry Fitzmaurice met alumni and representatives from the UNC School of Media and Journalism for a night of speed networking and discussion about the communications industry.

Having served as a consultant to Fortune 500 companies, starting a PR agency and leading advertising agencies from various departments, Kerry has a broad view of the industry. During her conversations with students and recent alumni, she gave them a look at what a future in the communications industry looks like.

Kerry’s advice to recent graduates was, “You are only as good as your network. Do be diligent about following up with everyone that you met. The bigger the network, the more opportunities.”

“I have a much stronger connection to the Durham UNC community now. There’s so much enthusiasm and pride for the School of Media and Journalism,” she added.

The “Start Here / Never Stop” event was hosted by eMarketer and also included guests from Burson-Marsteller, Consumer Reports, mcgarrybowen, Group SJR, and CNBC. More information about it can be found here.
