McKinney hires John Benedict as Creative Director

Durham, NC June 9, 2015 — Today McKinney announces that John Benedict has been hired as creative director in our New York office. He will be working closely with Executive Creative Director Peter Nicholson on Samsung, Mentos and Crocs.

Before joining the Barbarian Group as an associate creative director in 2013, John worked as an interactive copywriter at Crispin Porter + Bogusky on Burger King, Kraft Macaroni and Cheese and Domino’s. His time there informed his philosophies of creative work/advertising. Most recently he’s been freelancing at such agencies as 72andSunny, Sid Lee and BBH. This, he says, honed his efficiency, ability to learn how to work with different teams quickly and winning new business.

“McKinney has always occupied a solid brand-space in my head,” said Benedict. “People I respected in school went on to work there; people I respected at work had come from there. Between Peter, the team and an utter dearth of jerks, it wasn’t a nail-biter dropping out of freelance to come on full-time.”
