McKinney names Adam Levine chief marketing officer

September 11, 2014

McKinney announced today that Adam Levine, previously global brand marketing director at Deutsch, Inc., has joined the agency as chief marketing officer.

According to McKinney Chairman and CEO Brad Brinegar, Levine will be integral to attracting top clients seeking a creatively led, results-driven agency like McKinney. “McKinney has great momentum and Adam could not be joining us at a better time,” said Brinegar. “He will split his time between McKinney’s new offices in SoHo and our headquarters office in Durham so he can operate with a deep understanding of our one P&L ‘one agency, two doors’ way of doing business.”

“Of course I’m thrilled to join an agency with a creative reputation like McKinney’s. They’re smart, genuinely good people who all share the same goal — making great work,” said Levine. “But I won’t rhapsodize some BS about my role. It’s actually quite simple: Grow the agency. My peers and I have the same technology and tools at our disposal. So, it’s how we go about growing the agency that will differentiate McKinney in the long run. That’s where the challenge is. And that’s where the fun is. And I can’t wait to get started.”

Throughout his career, Levine has held senior new business and account management leadership roles. A believer in using strong creative to solve tough marketing problems, Levine is recognized as a whip-smart leader with equal parts gravitas and liveliness. At Draft FCB, Levine was chief growth officer and led all agency growth initiatives, both new and organic, which included forging new partnerships with Sprivia (Pfizer/Boehringer Ingelheim) and Gilenya (Novartis). He also successfully defended the Merck media agency-of-record review and White House Office of National Drug Control Policy mandatory agency review, both of which resulted in increased agency assignments.

At Deutsch, Levine led successful new business wins including Ortho Women’s Health, Microsoft and Intel, Zoloft, Verizon Information Services and Revlon. He also served as brand director and director of interactive client services for brands including IKEA, Snapple, Mitsubishi, Tanqueray and LensCrafters. Earlier, he was new business director at DDB Needham in New York, where he successfully retained the agency’s New York State Lottery account.

Levine is chairman of the board of Live Out Loud, a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring and empowering LGBTQ youth by connecting them with successful LGBTQ professionals in their community.
