How far are you from sharks right now? The Roaming Gnome knows.
The Travelocity Roaming Gnome is helping shark-loving travelers get closer to the action and shark-averse travelers flee from it with HowFarAmIfromSharksRightNow.com during summer’s sharkiest of weeks.
A traveling expert, and often brave, the Gnome will show site visitors a map with pins indicating the cities nearest them where sharks have most recently been spotted. From there, visitors can choose to get closer to the action or farther away from it. Location deets and trip booking is possible by clicking on any pin. Starting Thursday, August 7, the Gnome will be tweeting about the website and ideal vacay destinations from @roaminggnome.
If even watching these sometimes voracious marine fishes on TV makes you cringe, watching fake and airborne sharks may be more your style. Thankfully, the made-for-TV movie “Sharknado 2: The Second One” will air in theaters for one night on August 21. The Roaming Gnome suggests you find a theater in Chicago or Phoenix, two of the top destinations far far far from a U.S. coastline.
