Counter Culture’s holiday coffee is good and wants others to be good, too
Counter Culture, Durham’s premier coffee roaster, recently tapped McKinney to create the packaging for its holiday coffee. Every year, the company creates a special limited-edition brew and donates a dollar for every pound sold to an organization doing important work in communities where they source coffee.
Containing a 12-oz bag of coffee, the 100% recyclable box can also serve as a bank. There is a designated spot at the top of the box for cutting out a hole and a message reading “Cut to make bank. Fill. Give Away. Feel Good.” The box also sports a headline that says, “Our holiday coffee is good.*” With the asterisk referring to the dollar donated to the communities.
“Counter Culture Coffee is good both in the amazing taste and the way they give back to their partners,” said McKinney Creative Director Ellen Steinberg, who teamed with Associate Creative Director Matt Trego. “Their beliefs are contagious, so we decided the packaging could encourage people who buy the coffee to be good and give back, too.”
This year, proceeds will benefit partners in Burundi to support their transition to becoming Certified Organic.
