At Downtown Durham, Inc.’s annual meeting, McKinney COO Joni Madison was named 2013-2014 Board Chair.

“McKinney is proud to be celebrating 10 years in downtown Durham,” said Madison to the audience of over 300 city officials and business owners in attendance. “We embrace all things Durham and will continue to lift the city up and push it forward. We’re looking for new partnerships, developments, new events and ways for folks to enjoy living in and loving downtown Durham.”

After the meeting, Madison shared the city’s most recent accolades, including the following:

Ranks as one of the “Tastiest Towns in the South” (Southern Living, 2013)
Ranks sixth among “America’s Top 10 Cities for Small Business” (Washington Post, 2013)
Ranks fourth on Livability’s list of Best Places to Live in the U.S. (November 2013)
Was named among Fast Company’s “15 Tech Scenes In Places You’d Never Think To Look” (Fast Company, 2012)
Is home to the Durham Performing Arts Center, No. 1 ranked top-selling theater nationally (Pollstar, 2012)
Ranked highest nationally for sexual equality (US News & World Report, 2011)
