Nick Jones goes all Hollywood at Duke
On Friday, November 8, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., McKinney Designer Nick Jones will present “Making Meaningful Digital Things” as part of the Visualization Friday Forum seminar series at Duke University. The series is a forum for faculty, staff and students from across the university to share their research involving the development and/or application of visual methodologies. An invited speaker gives 30-minute presentation, and the group discusses the topic informally for another 20 minutes.
Nick will talk about “Hollywood’s Visual Vapor” and how “sci-fi filmmakers play make-believe with impossible interfaces and fantastical visualizations. Audiences eat them up,” per the presentation summary. “Then real-life designers spend the next decade trying to turn what we saw into reality….and how to make money doing it from home.”
Can’t get to Duke tomorrow afternoon over the lunch hour? Watch Nick on the seminar’s live stream instead.
