Nationwide Financial and McKinney get creative problem solving from Fuqua MBAs

Fuqua School of Business students traded their MBA caps and gowns for the chance to be creative problem solvers of a Nationwide Financial/McKinney Marketing Strategy Case Study. The invitation to Nationwide Financial and McKinney was offered by T. Austin Finch, Sr. Professor of Business Administration Christine Moorman, who believes getting real case studies in front of her students is an important way for them to learn. In return, managers at companies like Nationwide Financial get brilliant insights from some of the top MBA students in the world.

“Presenting students with real-life, complex problems gives them an opportunity to solve the most pressing problems facing companies today,” said Moorman, who is also the founder and director of The CMO Survey. “Even better, when the students pitch their strategy, the clients respond with not just answers but more questions that further provoke the students to dig deeper and consider the practical challenges of their ideas. It’s a learning environment that’s gratifying for both.”

Visiting Fuqua from Nationwide Financial marketing was SVP Bill Burke and AVP Brad Davis. The McKinney team included Group Strategy Director Gretchen Walsh and Account Director Scott Voege.
