Beercade wins silver Art Directors Club award
Last week, the Art Directors Club announced the winners for their 92nd annual awards. McKinney has won a silver award in the Interactive category for The Last Barfighter, a beer-dispensing arcade game (beercade) conceived of and built in-house — from the video game itself to the arcade housing, which conceals a chilled keg.
Since McKinney client Big Boss Brewing unveiled the beercade at their Oktoberfest event in 2012, it has generated over 100 million of PR impressions equaling more than $1.1 million in earned media with $0 in paid media spent. And Big Boss has sold a lot more beer. NBC News called it “a flash of genius,” while geekologie.com said simply, “Damn yeah!” McKinney feels the same about the ADC award.
Group Account Director Liz Paradise was one of 14 ADC jurors for the Advertising category. The not-for-profit organization was founded in 1920 and is one of the premier organizations for leaders in visual communication, boasting one of the most concentrated groups of creative talent in the world.
