Jenny Nicholson presented Innovation in Philanthropy award
The Association of Fundraising Professionals announced the winners of the 2012 National Philanthropy Day awards, and McKinney Associate Creative Director Jenny Nicholson took home the Innovation in Philanthropy award for her work on SPENT. SPENT, the online game created to help people understand what it’s like to live on the edge of poverty and homelessness, has had more than 2 million plays in every country in the world.
“Even now, as a successful professional, it’s hard for me to remember what living like that was like,” said Jenny Nicholson. “And I did live it. Much of SPENT is based on actual experiences. And if I have trouble recalling those hard times, I know it is difficult for people who haven’t lived it to relate to that experience.”
SPENT has gone on to do exactly that. For more information on the National Philanthropy Day awards, please visit https://www.afptriangle.org/events/national-philanthropy-day-2/.
