Durham named metro with largest creative class
The Atlantic yesterday named Durham, North Carolina, the U.S. metro with the largest concentration of the creative class, according to rankings compiled by Kevin Stolarick of the Martin Prosperity Institute, who based his findings on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Nearly half of Durham’s workforce is paid to drive economic development in science, design, entertainment, healthcare and other industries. Other cities in the top three are San Hose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara, California (46.9%), and Washington-Arlington-Alexandria, DC-VA-MD-WV (46.8%). Burlington-South Burlington, Vermont, concludes the list with 37.9%.
