McKinney and Cude host livability roundtable
McKinney joined Congressmen David Price (NC) and Earl Blumenauer (OR) in a lively discussion about the national livable communities initiative and national efforts to create pedestrian and bicycle-friendly transportation. Blumenauer is chairman of the Congressional Bike Caucus and Livable Communities Task Force.
“We are the beneficiaries of Congressmen Price and Blumenauer’s tireless advocacy for making our cities more livable,” said Jonathan Cude, who hosted the event at the agency’s office in downtown Durham. “As we continue to attract great national talent to the agency, it’s important to remember that place really does matter. Quick access for bikers and pedestrians to restaurants, bookstores and shopping is what really makes a city like Durham livable and lovable. We’ve come a long way in the five years McKinney has called downtown Durham home, and I’m excited to hear about plans for more bike paths and pedestrian trails here and throughout the Triangle.”
