Doug Holroyd says TiVo is no threat to great advertising and big ideas

Doug Holroyd was interviewed by the News and Observer on a recent Duke study that says DVRs don’t affect ad sales. According to the study by Professor Carl Mela, TiVo users aren’t skipping as many commercials as conventional wisdom would have you think. “This validates what we have always believed,” said Doug. “TiVo and other technology isn’t going to get in the way of marketers being successful.” Doug cited McKinney’s 2006 campaign for Sony Bravia that invited consumers to use TiVo to choose their own ending in Bravia TV spots. “TiVo is not the enemy,” said Holroyd. “It’s advertising that isn’t good and that’s most of it.”
