McKinney is answering 600 & Rising’s call for change and stands committed to eliminating the systemic racism and inequity that exists in our industry.
In a letter you can read here, our CEO Joe Maglio makes clear McKinney’s intent to build on our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion by employing more Black people in leadership positions and throughout our creative department, the two areas where it will drive sustainable impact. In addition, we are reporting the current demographic makeup of the agency and, moving forward, we will update our gender, race and ethnicity data quarterly and share it publicly on our website.
For George Floyd. And Ahmaud Arbery. And Breonna Taylor. And Tony McDade. And Nina Pop. And João Pedro Matos Pinto.
And all the names we’ll never know.
Black Lives Matter, and McKinney stands in solidarity with our Black colleagues and friends. While we’ve made progress across diversity, inclusion and equity at McKinney, we have a long way to go. The recent death of George Floyd is yet another reminder that no matter what else is consuming our time and attention – including a global pandemic – we need to prioritize these efforts. The burden of eradicating racism cannot be left to Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC); we are vowing to take this time to educate ourselves so we can better support our BIPOC coworkers, friends, and neighbors.
In the face of the Coronavirus,we believe good can spread exponentially, too. And that nowmore than ever, even the smallest act of kindness can be huge.
