New Target CMO Jeff Jones passes the presidential torch to John Newall
McKinney announced today that John Newall has been named partner and president of the agency, effective immediately.
Previously partner and group account director, Newall, 44, succeeds Jeff Jones who has been named executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Target Corporation.

Since joining McKinney in 2005, Newall has been key to building partnerships with clients like Sony Consumer Electronics, Virgin Mobile USA, Virgin Atlantic Airways and Nationwide Insurance. His leadership helped launch Bravia, Sony’s LCD television that re-established their No. 1 position. More recently, Newall has focused on the Nationwide brand, helping them reinvigorate their business and elevate their brand to some of the highest levels of marketing performance in the history of the company. He has also helped define a strategic and creative platform for Gold’s Gym to further strengthen that brand’s leadership position. Having spent time on the client side building strategic alliances, Newall has extensive experience in identifying and brokering agreements with best-in-class marketing resources and has leveraged that experience for McKinney to fully manage integrated conversations.
Newall came to McKinney from Publicis, where he worked with a diverse range of clients from Fujifilm Digital Cameras to entertainment giant Vivendi Universal. He was responsible for BMW where he oversaw the creation of their first-ever year-end retail event.
Before that, Newall joined SFX Entertainment as VP, Marketing and worked for some of the world’s largest marketers such as GM, Visa and American Express to build their business leveraging the power of live entertainment.
Earlier, he helped build Imagitas, a life-stage marketing company that invented an industry and a $100 million business through a unique, public/private business model. For his work helping privatize the National Change of Address program for the USPS, Al Gore presented Newall with the prestigious Hammer Award given to those who have had a significant impact in helping government perform more efficiently.
A native of the U.K., Newall is a graduate of the University of Hertfordshire Business School.
