Today, McKinney announced new leadership to further strengthen and grow its presence in New York.
Joe Maglio, previously managing director at Havas New York, has been appointed CEO of McKinney NY. Launched in 2013, the full-service office is recognized for its award-winning experiential marketing efforts for Samsung Electronics America, Norwegian Air, ESPN, Sennheiser, and Crocs, as well as for Samsung’s annual presence at CES. McKinney NY also created Effie-winning work for Samsung Home Appliance and creative campaigns for clients including Crocs, Framepool, and Mentos.
“We are very happy to bring Joe into the McKinney family,” said Brad Brinegar, chairman and CEO of McKinney. “He has a great track record of winning, managing, and growing significant accounts. He gets and appreciates experiential marketing, the foundation of our current business at McKinney NY. Joe’s a strategic, disciplined marketer with a real entrepreneurial spirit who I am counting on to build McKinney NY into a creative showcase for the McKinney brand, on behalf of Cheil Worldwide.”
“Once I met the leadership team, I knew McKinney was the right place for me,” said Maglio. “They possess an enviable combination of talent, attitude, and camaraderie that I immediately wanted to be a part of. And the agency at large has consistently delivered work that drives client business — the metric I’m most focused on.”
As managing director at Havas New York, Maglio co-led the agency’s account management department, and he was responsible for a portfolio of clients across multiple categories. These included TD Ameritrade, Danone, NetJets, Dos Equis, Terminix, ServiceMaster, and Edible Arrangements. Previously, as group account director, Maglio managed multidisciplinary teams and led client relationships for Charles Schwab and Reckitt Benckiser’s personal care, fabric care, and multi-surface categories in North America.
Before Havas, Maglio was SVP, group account director at Publicis and was a leader on the Publicis One team, the cross-disciplinary unit created for Citibank. Prior to that, he also served as partner, marketing director at Ogilvy on that agency’s DuPont and Time Warner Cable accounts.
An entrepreneur at heart, Maglio is co-founder of The Mozzarella Joint, a unique food concept currently housed in Yankee Stadium, with expansion plans underway. He also co-produced a feature-length film that will be released later this year, and he serves on the board of directors for the New York-based charity, Hoodies for the Homeless.
