Mayor Bell and McKinney Kick Off "Carol-aoke" Event For TROSA

TROSA presents a holiday karaoke event - on wheels. Carol-Aoke, an event created with McKinney, will be touring the Durham community in early December. It made its grand debut Monday morning, December 1, at City Hall, where Durham Mayor Bill Bell sang "Jingle Bells" to a cold but delighted crowd.

The Carol-Aoke program was designed for TROSA to get more acquainted with the Durham community that it has been home to since 1994. Carol-Aoke is a traveling stage set up on a trailer that was created by the TROSA program residents and in partnership with Mckinney. It's an opportunity for Durham residents to meet the organization and some of its members, have a little fun, and also pick up some holiday items that might be on their shopping list. At Carol-Aoke, TROSA staff, residents and volunteers will take to the stage and try their best at holiday songs and encourage others in attendance (and passers-by) to join in the fun as well. Each person willing to sing a song will receive a discount coupon toward a TROSA Tree. Also at these events, TROSA will also be selling high quality, hand made wreaths. Each year TROSA sells wreaths and tree's without such an event, but this season is different. It's about making connections, not just transactions. Equally important for the community to know is that TROSA is a 501(c) non-profit which means all financial donations are tax-deductible.

After the kick-off event at City Hall, the Carol-Aoke truck will begin making scheduled stops over the next 2 weeks. More information will be available soon.

A special HO HO HO to Bill Ward and Brian Murray for creating such a great idea for one of Durham's most deserving charities!
