Doug joined McKinney in 2003 from Fallon Worldwide, where he was one of a handful of pioneers of connection planning, the art and science of finding new ways to weave brands into the fabric of people’s lives. While there, Doug did extensive work developing powerful connections architecture for Fallon’s Citibank account. We hired Doug to make McKinney the third agency in the country to develop connection planning expertise. As head of The Connection Planning Group, Doug also oversees our media efforts.
One of his earliest contributions at McKinney was to help Travelocity see the opportunity in getting out of the “cheap tickets” business and into the “great travel business” through his segmentation efforts and category experience mapping. His teams have made significant contributions to all of the agency’s Effie-winning clients.
Doug started his career in media at Leo Burnett and worked client-side at Kimberly-Clark as an advertising manager before moving back to the agency side at Fallon. Doug is a graduate of Ohio University with an MBA from Loyola of Chicago.
